Xmas Fireside Poetry

Xmas Tree

What Christmas Means To Me

Its not about the Christmas tree

Standing tall and proud

Its not about the presents, wrapped

With paper bright and bowed.

Its not about the turkey roast

With cranberries bitter sweet

Its not about the Christmas cake

Which we so love to eat.

Its not about the sparkling lights

That twinkle shining bright

Its not about Santa Claus

Who’s visiting tonight.

To me its time to show you care

To generations young and old

Of giving thanks for all we have,

To bring warmth from the cold.

To show love with no boundaries

Toward those in our lives,

To give thanks to the divinity

Who show us clear blue skies.

For at this time a boy was born,

A gift from way up high

Who leads us toward a life of light

With faith and hope divine.

Christmas is a Time for Love

Christmas is a Time for Love

Christmas is a time for Love; a time for Joy and Peace;
A time to trim the Christmas Tree and a time to stuff the geese.
It's a time when we can come together, however far or near;
To shed a little hope into a world of sorrow and fear.

Yet Christmas could be all year 'round, if only we would try
To gently wipe an old man's brow or soothe a baby's cry.
If we could smile throughout the year as we do on Christmas Day;
Just think what happiness we'd shed along life's weary way.

To give a gift of Hope to one who otherwise has none;
To be a Friend to somebody whom everyone else has shun.
To be Forgiving of our faults, and of our sisters and our brothers;
To Live in Peace and Harmony with ourselves and with each other.

Ah, don't you see that Christmas is more than opening up the gifts;
It's more than singing Christmas Carols and rolling in big snow drifts.
It's a feeling that can stay with you throughout each day, all year;
And all it takes is a loving heart.....and a sensitive little tear.

Christmas Star

Christmas Star

A diamond shines no brighter
than that lovely Christmas star.
It shines in all its brilliance;
it's seen from near or far.
A symbol of the Christ child
as He lay upon the hay,
It tell to all the waiting world
a King was born that day.

O Bethlehem Star keep shining -
give us faith and hope and love.
Keep our thoughts forever turning
to the Savior up above.
Give us strength and hope and courage
to do our best by far
And never falter in our faith
as we watch that Christmas star

its Christmas

            ITS CHRISTMAS

Xmas pressies wrapped under the tree,
waiting to be given to friends and family.
Excitement fills the air, from little ones,
parents get stressed, trying to get things done.

Festive programs on tv
christmas carolers singing merrily,
decorations hang from ceiling to floor
A mistletoe kiss for those who walk through the door.

Children finally in bed asleep,
safe for santa to place presents to keep,
placed on the mantle piece,a little treat
A mince pie and a carrot for santa and reindeer to eat.

Gratitude to angels for love and light
praying for the future to be nice and bright.

2 Wishes For Chritmas

2 WISHES FOR CHRISTMAS

Over Snow Hill to Christmas Valley
Lots of time to dilly dally
Along Ice Lane to Chilly Hollow
Biding our time until tomorrow

Up Home Path to Welcome door
Gaze at the tree and presents galore
Sit by the fire it's Christmas Eve
Granddads there with tricks up his sleeve

Christmas carols and Jingle Bells
Mulled fruit wine and cooking smells
Eggy egg nog and Stollen cake
And all the things mum loves to bake

Then it's yo ho ho, roofs of snow
Holly leaves and mistletoe
Silent nights, eyes shut tight
Wishing on a star so bright

Of all the things now in my sight
Of all the joys I wish tonight
The 1st is peace the 2nd good will
Just leave them on my windowsill

Silver Skies

SILVER SKIES

Silver skies
above high rise

Streaks of grey
Night turns to day

Low full clouds
rumbling loud

Fluffy roof tiles
glistening for miles

Snow lined streets
white window pleats

Woolly bowed heads
weather proof threads

Christmas time
tree lights shine

Faces gleam
soft breaths steam

Horizon splinters
it's time for winter

Christmas Cheer

Christmas is near so spread some cheer
santa's sleigh is almost here
wrap up those presents
and hang up the stockings
get out the mulled wine and leave him some mince pies.

Leave carrots out for the reindeer
but snuff out the fire
when going to bed
santa is coming down the chimney
we wouldn't want santa to have hot pants!

A decorated tree with sparkling baubles
a fairy or angel upon the tree
twinkling lights that sparkle like stars.

A magical time for children and parents
but please dont forget
the ones that are alone
a single present would do just right for them
a lonely neighbour that would not feel left out

Please leave a present for the samaritans purse
a decorated shoe box for the local school
filled with the most things we take for granted
a spreading of christmas cheer
is what christmas is all about.

So a very merry christmas to one and all
and please take care
as we would like you back to Morgans Rest
to see in the new year

The Candle by Sunflower

This candle is a special candle,
Sent out with love and light,
                         For all to gaze upon,
                      With love in there heart,
To send peace out to this world of ours,
To shed hope on those who are lost,
                   To those who are hungry,
To show that there is hope,
                  That they are not alone,
That the light will always flicker,
For those in despair, in war, in hate and greed,
So send this candle on to show we care,
That this world of ours will one day be equal,
And we will hold hands like brother and sister should,
And may god bless you all.
