Oh great spirit
I thankyou for my food
when our warriors are out hunting
you make sure they come with food
the buffalo that walk the prairie
our sacred lands are not to be disturbed
yet they come and take the buffalo
wht waste they leave behind
they do not appreciate the joy of the land
the bird song
the pebbles in the stream
that make music when you play with the river
the grass beneath that tickles my feet
oh what wonders can I see

The eagles that fly high as the mountains
the wings that spread and behold their beauty
eagle spirit teach us many things
the wolf that sings in the night
the night sings to me many songs
oh wise white one you come to me for my teachings

When the thunder comes i hear your voice
you bring rain to feed the streams
that bring the essance of life to us
the fish that bring the stream alive
the mighty bear that hunt the fish

Each animal you showed to us spirit
yet each living thing has a spirit
we are shown to appreciate and not take them for granted
if we hurt the earth it bleeds

Our music and our drums give thanks
and say many things
our old wise ones that teach us can pass
wisdoms of many generations
to smoke the pipe of peace
not war

0ur stored food to take us safely to winter lands
where the snow falls
we sit in teepees and tell stories to our young
crouched by the warm fires
huggled in blankets and hides
making beads and burning herbs

Oh great spirit hear my song
as i give thanks to the many wonderful things
you taught us about mother earth

Prayer for Peace

O Great Spirit of our Ancestors, I raise my pipe to you. To your messengers the four winds, and to Mother Earth who provides for your children. Give us the wisdom to teach our children to love, to respect, and to be kind to each other so that they may grow with peace in mind. Let us learn to share all the good things that you provide for us on this Earth.
